Cleveland State University Assistant Professor (Clinical Psychologist)
The Department of Psychology at Cleveland State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August, 2016.
Position Description: Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a productive and fundable research program, contributing actively to our Clinical Psychology MA program, supervising master’s student theses, and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses such as Abnormal Psychology, Concepts & Methods of Individual Psychotherapy, Theories of Personality, Intellectual Assessment, and Personality Testing. Given the department’s commitment to recruiting the strongest possible research scientist, specialty area within clinical psychology is open. The University, College of Sciences and Health Professions, and the Psychology Department seek to attract a diverse and culturally sensitive faculty of the highest caliber. Minimum Qualifications: Include a Ph.D. from an APA accredited Clinical Psychology program and the completion of an APA accredited Clinical Internship.
Preferred Qualifications: Include evidence of research and teaching that addresses cultural diversity and sensitivity issues; a strong record of scholarship; evidence of potential for success in obtaining external funding; the ability to effectively teach both undergraduate and graduate psychology courses, and research interests in areas such as anxiety disorders, personality disorders, experimental psychopathology, neuropsychology, health psychology, or substance abuse and the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
Department Information: In addition to its undergraduate and Clinical Psychology MA programs, the Psychology Department offers a doctoral program in Adult Development and Aging (in collaboration with the University of Akron); a Psychology Specialist program in School Psychology; and master’s programs for students concentrating in Cognitive/Experimental psychology, Industrial/Organizational research, and Diversity Management. Cleveland State University is located in a large metropolitan area that allows for research collaboration with major medical centers.
