Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Cognitive Psychology, St. Mary’s College of Maryland

St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the national public honors college, is accepting applications for a TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY to begin August 2022.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a doctorate in Cognitive Psychology or a related field by August 2022 and be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include general courses in the major (e.g., Intro to Psychology; a two-semester sequence in research methods, statistics and writing), core courses in cognitive psychology, and topics courses in one’s area of specialization. A traditional course load is 3 courses per semester, although supervision of senior thesis projects counts toward the teaching load. The development of an active research program involving undergraduates is expected, and a commitment to culturally competent teaching/mentoring and fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments is essential. With the support of the Office of Inclusive Diversity, Equity, Access, and Accountability (IDEA2), St. Mary’s College has designated this position as part of a cluster hire designed to increase the diversity of SMCM faculty. Programs participating in this cluster hire include Anthropology, Biology, Computer Science, Economics, and Psychology. The College seeks to build and support a network of committed scholars whose pedagogical practice-- across their diverse fields of specialization-- improves the educational experience of underrepresented students. Candidates who demonstrate commitment to and past experience supporting BIPOC, first generation, and low-income students will be given preference.
