Joo-Hyun Song

Joo-Hyun Song is an Associate Professor at the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences at Brown University. She received her B.A. from Seoul National University (Seoul, Korea) in 1998 and her Ph.D. from the Department of Psychology at Harvard University in 2006. Following postdoctoral training in systems neuroscience and neuroimaging at the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute (San Francisco, CA), she joined Brown University in 2010. Her research program's overarching goal is to understand how multiple systems involved in allocating visual attention, selecting a target, controlling eye and hand movements, and acquiring new motor skills are seamlessly coordinated to interact with complex environments successfully. Her work has been recognized by the National Science Foundation CAREER Award (2016). She co-edited the special issue "Time for Action: Reaching for a Better Understanding of the Dynamics of Cognition" in Attention, Perception, & Psychophysics (2019). She is the associate editor of Journal of Experimental Psychology: General and consulting editor of the Psychonomic Bulletin & Review and Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance.
